Beautiful surroundings, lots of trees and hiking trails. Walked around the lake, listened to the Loons, it is a great outdoor experience in the mountains.

We have stayed at Fish Lake numerous times over the years, but there are issues that need to be addressed there. We think that Loop 2 needs some serious work on the lakeside sites as you have no room to get your awning out or you are always at risk of breaking an ankle when you step off your trailer step because of the steep narrow bank right at the edge of your site. These sites all need to be widened and some trees trimmed back. The road into the park and in the loops needs to be oiled to keep the dust down as well. The issue of water for campers needs to be fixed as well. The sites in Loop 5 are wonderful, but it should be made easier for people to get into the reserved sites in Loop 4 if they are not booked. The quality of the wood supplied needs to greatly improved as for the cost of $8 per 12 pieces it needs to be dry and of good quality. We will be back again sometime but to make this a great recreational area these concerns needs to be addressed.

Lots of places to fish from shore and a dock. Lake looks good for smaller boats. Sites are huge in mature stands of fir and spruce.

My family of four was told we were not permitted to have two tents on our site unless we paid another fee. (Claiming this is an Alberta Parks regulation... after a short call to Alberta Parks we confirmed this is NOT TRUE!!) This resulted in my husband and I sleeping in our vehicle for our stay. Than the next day after having our camp set up for more than 24 hours we were approached again asking us to MOVE SITES for someone who was interested in this site, in the FIRST COME FIRST SERVE CAMPGROUND!! Needless to say after 2 days, 2 nights sleeping in my vehicle, and 4 visits from these staff members, my husband and I decided to cut our family vacation short and move on to somewhere we could be more comfortable! Also the firewood that is "provided with your fee" is all green wet poplar and doesn't burn! After your first 12pc it's $8/12pc... I'd pay that for dry wood no problem, but that's not the case! Incase that's not enough, the fishing was HORRIBLE!!!!! And after our first time at Fish Lake we are certain we will NOT be returning!!! Most disappointing!!!
